Cochrane and Male: Discharge Patterns from Skylab and Landsat Imagery

چکیده

Several analytical techniques used on both conventional colour photographs from SKYLAB and the LANDSAT MSS data in both photographic and magnetic digital tape fonnats provide useful sources of information about regional and seasonal patterns of stream sediment discharges along New Zealand coasts. The large area synoptic views from space are superior to aircraft photomosaics. The green visible band (500-600 nm) is the most useful for sediment studies. Band 7 (0.8 1.1 ,urn) sharply defines land-water interfaces. Digital analysis of small sample areas provides additional quantitative information. Better information about patterns is of potential value in coastal geomorphology, coastal engineering applications, and in coastal ecology.

Snowcover Mapping by Machine Processing of Skylab and Landsat Mss Data

SKYLAB and LANDSAT MSS data were analyzed using computer-aided analysis techniques (CAAT) developed at LARS. Results indicated that the middle infrared wavelength bands of the SKYLAB S-192 scanner would allow effective discrimination between snowcover and water-droplet clouds, whereas the limited spectral response of the LANDSAT-1 or 2 scanners do not allow such spectral discrimination. In the ...

Recognizing the eroded areas using the surface albedo algorithm of Landsat 8 satellite imagery (case study of basin Jajrood)

Soil is one of the most important natural resources of any country. the erosion causes not only the depletion of the soil and the loss of the land, causing great and irreparable damages, but also with the deposition of materials in streams, reservoirs, ports, and reduced pool capacity. Therefore, it should not be underestimated. In this study, we identify and zoning of the erosion areas in the ...

Evaluation of Matched Filter method for wind erosion mapping Landsat 8 OLI Imagery, (Central and North West province of Khuzestan)

Successful target detection, especially if there is a similarity between the target and the background area, always is a noticeable issue in remote sensing studies. Because of the spectral behavior similarity to the other phenomena and spatial distribution of these units, the mapping of wind erosion units is difficult. Thus, this study attempts to detect the favorable areas by using matched fil...

Comparing the Capability of Sentinel 2 and Landsat 8 Satellite Imagery in Land Use and Land Cover Mapping Using Pixel-based and Object-based Classification Methods

Introduction: Having accurate and up-to-date information on the status of land use and land cover change is a key point to protecting natural resources, sustainable agriculture management and urban development. Preparing the land cover and land use maps with traditional methods is usually time and cost consuming. Nowadays satellite imagery provides the possibility to prepare these maps in less ...

Using Quickbird and Landsat imagery to analyze temporal changes in mountain resort development: Big Sky, Montana 1990–2005

Documenting patterns of land use and land-cover change in mountain resort development (MRD) is important for understanding the effects of these changes of fragile mountain environments. High-spatial-resolution imagery can be useful for mapping MRD, but lack of a long-term record of such imagery hampers our ability to analyze temporal patterns. We use the results from classification of high-spat...
